TPL Picks: Week 14 + Spread Bets

We've hit the three quarters mark of the season now. The night seems to last forever and for 20 teams there are just 3 or 4 games left.  How depressing.

So to brighten your day here are Toby's terrible spread picks and our weekly winners!!!

Best Matchups of the Week
Josh Gordon Vs. Aqib Talib

Talib has done brilliantly against Julio Jones, AJ Green and Jimmy Graham this year, but Josh Gordon has been unstoppable recently, amassing a ridiculous 1,249 yards in just 10 games this year at a massive 19.5 yards per catch. He's racked up 498 yards in the last 2 games. Bill Belichick's game plans often include focusing on the opponents best player and taking him away, so I don't expect him to leave Talib one on one all that often but it should still be a great fight.

Evan Mathis Vs. Ndamukong Suh/Nick Fairley

The Eagles are one of the best rushing teams in the league, but a lot of that success came with Vick and was more schemed than straight power football. The Lions pair of defensive tackles have been great against the run this year, and Mathis, who's having another good year with the Eagles after signing a new contract, will be the point of attack for much of the running Philly does in a game that's expected to have terrible weather conditions.

Richard Sherman Vs. Anquan Boldin pt. II

In the first game between Seattle and San Fran Boldin was held to just 1 catch for 7 yards. If the 49ers are to beat their division rivals they'll have to find a way to get Boldin the ball.

Terrell Suggs Vs. Matt Kalil

Suggs has had a nice return in his first full season back from an achilles injury, he'll be a good yardstick for Matt Kalil's development as an NFL left tackle.

Broncos receivers Vs. Titans Corners

In our power rankings we spoke of the job Alterraun Verner and Jason McCourty have been doing for Tennessee this year. Well this week they'll be tested by Tennessee's old nemesis (and even older hero) Peyton Manning and his band of brothers. Last week it was Eric Decker's turn to get fed the ball, this week who knows which of his three Peyton will key on, but it's probably going to be the guy who isn't against Verner or McCourty, meaning 3rd corner Coty Sensabaugh might be in for a tough day...

Toby's Spread Picks (Last Week: 2-1, Overall: 13-22)

Atlanta (+3) over Green Bay

Aaron Rodgers is out so both these teams stink, gimme the points. And no, I don't feel great about it!

Carolina (+3.5) over New Orleans

that half a point is huge when you've got a defense as good as Carolina's. The battle between Jimmy Graham and Luke Kuechly/Thomas Davis will play a big part in how this one goes.

Cincinnati (-7) over Indianapolis

The Bengals defense should be able to get to Luck consistently, and the Colts offense just hasn't been the same since Reggie Wayne went down. 7 is perhaps a little high when you're backing Andy Dalton, but the Colts defense hasn't been any great shakes recently either.
