TPL Picks: Week 13 + Spread Picks

Happy Thanksgiving to our American readers! Happy Week 13 to the rest of you!!!

As the nights draw in and the temperature drops every game becomes more intense, even for those fighting at the bottom for draft position. Last week saw some truly amazing football, from a comeback for the ages that nearly killed Toby, to a shootout in San Diego and even the years first tie.

This week sees Denver Vs. Kansas pt. II, but this time without Justin Houston. Speaking of Houston, they're now in prime position for the first overall pick this year which is something no one saw coming. They host a buoyant New England team who's offense looks as deadly as ever. Meanwhile Buffalo and Atlanta play in Toronto, with the Bills still in with a chance of a playoff spot.

You can find our picks, Toby's spread picks and the best player battles of the week after the jump. Enjoy!

Jimmy Graham Vs. "Legion of Boom"

The Seahawks, despite ANOTHER suspension for violation of the league's substance abuse policy, have one of the NFL's best defenses again, powered by their fantastic secondary, but this week Jimmy Graham is coming to town. Graham hasn't been totally healthy recently, with a foot problem causing him issues, but he's still ruining defenses at a ridiculous rate. The question is how are the Seahawks going to defend him? Will Richard Sherman be asked to play against him all day? After all Graham spends the vast majority of his time in the slot or out wide, he's a tight end in name only. But he's also enormous, so will it be Kam Chancellor on him? Who ever it is, they'll have their hands full.

Adrian Peterson Vs. Chicago Bears run "defense"

The Bears have been horrendous against the run for most of the year, their injuries have been concentrated around the middle of their front 7 so it's no surprise that they're allowing a league-worst 145 rush yards a game. The Vikings could just hand off to Peterson every down and increase that number, but do they want to? At 2-8-1 the Vikings would need to avoid winning a game if they wanted a shot at one of the top QB's in the 2014 draft....

JJ Watt Vs. Patriots offensive line

Last year Watt was held sackless by the Patriots in their regular season game, but he did register 4 QB hits. This year the Pats have lost right tackle Sebastian Vollmer to a broken leg and his backup Marcus Cannon had to leave the game last week with a leg injury of his own. Watt destroys even the best right tackles, so what might he do against 3rd-stringer Will Svitek!? The Texans don't look like they'll be able to put up much of a fight in the game, but Watt might just leave several Brady-shaped holes around the field.

Rams rushing Vs. 49ers defense

The Rams have been running the crap out of the ball recently, amassing 98 carries in their last 3 games. 5th round pick Zac Stacy has been the focal point for them but he left the game last week with a concussion, although Stacy's passed the league concussion protocols he's listed as "Probable" for the game. The Rams will need him because the 49ers defense is still a force, they crushed the Redskins rushing offense with ease on monday night and with Aldon Smith back moving the ball on them has become a lot harder than it was mid-season.

Robert Quinn Vs. Joe Staley

WHAT. A. MATCHUP. Robert Quinn has been outstanding this year, he's second in the NFL with 24 QB Hits, second in the NFL with 13 sacks and creates 2 or 3 "wow" plays a game. He's registered a QB hit in ever game except week 3 against Dallas, so what can he do against Staley, the top rated offensive lineman in our 2013 Top 100? Quinn's strength is his unreal speed, which all starts with his get off, he's so fast off the snap it's unbelievable. Staley's play has been very good once again this year, last time the two met in week 4 Staley was able to hold Quinn to one sack and one QB hit. The same again would perhaps be an even bigger achievement given the form Quinn is in.

Eagles Offense Vs. Cardinals Defense

Philly have the leagues best rushing attack and one of the hottest QB's around right now, but they're going against a defense that is staggeringly good. Since Daryl Washington returned from suspension the Cards D has taken off, with playmakers at every level and a highly aggressive philosophy they've just stifled offenses every week. The Cards are 7-4 and in with a chance of taking a playoff spot in the highly competitive NFC wildcard race, but they can ill-afford a slip up here when they still have games against Seattle and San Fran to come.

Toby's Spread Picks: (Last week: 1-2, Overall: 11-21)

Cardinals (+3.5) over Eagles

Trusting Carson Palmer is never a wise move, but the Cards defense is playing so well, and Nick Foles' form has to break at some point...

Jaguars (+7) over Browns

I've got two words for you; Brandon. Weeden.

Patriots (-7) over Texans

Houston's offense is abysmal, even with the Pats woeful run defense they won't be able to keep pace with an in-form Patriots offense.
