One year ago today, three linemen, and former team-mates from the Nottingham Outlaws, decided to start up an NFL blog with the aim of bringing different views than you might find on other blogs, due to the “outsider” perspective that comes from being fans from aboard, as well as drawing on our experiences in the amateur British game wherever possible to analyse the play of players.
A year later, and The Pulling Linemen is going stronger than ever, coming off of our most-viewed quarter to date. It's been a fantastic year, which featured interviews with NFL players, NFL media, and college players hoping to make up the next generation of NFL stars; it has seen our pieces picked up and featured by ESPN, Bleacher Report and SB Nation; we have brought you roundtable discussions, our own Top 100 countdown, fantasy advice ranging from the solid to the questionable, analysis of players and plays, and stories behind games and players that you would not have found anywhere else.
So, what can you expect in the second year of The Pulling Linemen? Well, for starters, you can expect more: more articles, more roundtables, more analysis and more interviews. We are committed to bringing everything you enjoy about TPL, but bigger and better than it's been before. But we're not stopping there. We'll be bringing you new features to really get into the more technical aspects of the game that comes from playing the most important position in football, the offensive line; we'll be bringing you both more conceptual articles, exploring concepts and philosophies of football, as well as more specific and detailed articles, breaking down the game with tangible examples. One new feature of the second type we will be bringing to you once the regular season kicks off will be “Plays that Paid Off”, a series breaking down some of the best NFL plays of the week from the perspective of schemes, tactics and X's and O's. Rest assured, though, that it will be on only one of many new features we will be unveiling throughout the year.
Finally, a huge, huge thank you to everyone who has read and supported The Pulling Linemen in our first year – we wouldn't still be here if it weren't for you guys! So, on our one year anniversary, we want to hear from all of you; tell us what you like about our blog, what you want to see more of next year, and what we can do to make TPL better for you. Hit us up on Facebook, follow the blog – and our writers – on Twitter, leave us comments below; for our own part, we promise to do everything we can to make The Pulling Linemen the best blog it can be.
Here's to the next year!
